[Pre-intro scene: Mon+Rach’s place. Enter Ross]
イントロ前のシーン：モニカ＋レイチェルの部屋。ロスが入場。

  

Ross: Guys? There’s a somebody I’d like you to meet. 
ロス：みんないる？あってもらいたいコがいるんだけど。

[A monkey jumps on to his shoulder.]
一匹の猿がロスの肩に登ってくる。

All: Oooh!
全員：（感嘆）

 

Monica: W-wait. What is that?

Ross: ’That’ would be Marcel. You wanna say hi?
”それ”じゃなくてマルセルだよ。挨拶したい？

  

Monica: No, no, I don’t.
いや、いやよ。

Rachel: Oh, he is precious! Where did you get him?
貴重な猿なんじゃないの？　どこで手に入れたわけ？

Ross: My friend Bethel rescued him from some lab.
友達のベテルが研究室にいたのを助けたんだ。

Phoebe: That is so cruel! Why? Why would a parent name their child Bethel?
なんてヒドい話！なぜ？何で自分の子供にベテルなんて名前をつけるの？

Chandler: Hey, that monkey’s got a Ross on its ass!
おい、猿がケツにロスをくっつけちゃってるよ！

Monica: Ross, is he gonna live with you, like, in your apartment?
その猿と一緒に住むつもり？一緒のアパートとかに？

Ross: Yeah. I mean, it’s been kinda quiet since Carol left, so…
ああ、キャロルが出てってからなんか静かになっちゃったから、それで…

Monica: Why don’t you just get a roommate?
ルームメートと住めばいい話じゃないの？

Ross: Nah, I dunno… I think you reach a certain age, having a roommate is kinda pathe- [Realises] ….sorry, that’s, that’s ‘pathet’, which is Sanskrit for ‘really cool way to live’.

それもどうかな…、いい年してルームメイトと暮らすなんてさび･･･おっと、ごめん、ほら、「サビ」だよ、サンスクリット語で「とてもクールなライフスタイル」って意味。
